Finish the sink…and toilet..and…

So after yesterday’s fun, Band Mom headed out this morning and bought a new kitchen sink and some pipes to get the whole thing hooked up. So off went the water again. I got the faucet put on the sink and realized that Band Mom hadn’t picked up the drains for the sink…So I headed back to Lowe’s to pick up drains, some plumber’s putty and a soap dispenser. The soap dispenser was because Band Mom bought a 4 hole sink and the new faucet we bought doesn’t have one of those hose thingies, so something needed to fill that fourth hole.

While I was gone Band Mom fixed the leak under the bathroom sink and the leek in the pipes leading to the washing machine. While doing this she noticed another leak in the feed pipe from the hot water tank to the washing machine. So while I was putting the drains in the sink, she was cutting out the bad pipe leading to the washing machine.

We got the sink back in the counter and hooked up the water inputs. Then we needed to hook the drain pipes in. As we were doing this it turns out Band Mom had gotten the wrong pieces to hook up to the drains of the sink. So now its her turn to go back to Lowe’s and get the correct parts. She gets back and we hook that up and all is good…

Then Band Mom fixes the pipe she cut downstairs. We let it set and decide its time to turn everthing on and test it….So Band Mom heads downstairs and I stay at the sink to watch for leaks. I hear the water getting turned on…and then a BANG and a scream and some running water…Oops. The pipe that she replaced going to the washing machine didn’t hold. Fun.

We take some time and get that one re-fixed. Then its time to try the sink again. So she turns on the feed to the kitchen. No leaks. I turn on the sink and water starts trickling out….ON FULL BLAST! That’s not good…Where is the pressure? We try a bunch of stuff and still nothing…We need to take of the aerator of the faucet to put the piece that hooks to our dishwasher on and when Band Mom does this notices that there is a little piece of wood or something inside the aerator…HUH? Well with that gone the water is flowing well. Yay a project that actually works…

One final thing to do to finish all of our plumbing needs for the day…We need to replace the wax seal on the downstairs toilet. This project actually only takes a little bit of time, and works the first time. So our 1/2 hour project only took 20 some hours but its all good now!

Another 1/2 Hour Project

So Friday night, after we ran out to get some grub, Band Mom decided it was time to put in the new kitchen faucet that we bought a week or two ago. Hey how long can it take like 1/2 hour tops. For any that know us or have read this blog at all, you know there is no such thing as a 1/2 hour project in our house.

Well it was impossible to reach the underside of the existing faucet to remove it from the sink. So what is the solution? Lets remove the whole sink…it will make it easier to replace the faucet. Well, in doing that we managed to damage the sink (only slightly). And the only way to do that was to cut some pipes…

So at 1 O’Clock in the morning, we have a giant gaping hole in the counter. Pipes that are cut…and the water is off. Gee, are their any stores open at 1 O’clock in the morning that maybe have the supplies we need to fix this? Unless Lowe’s went 24 hour the answer is no! So we find a way to get the water on to the house so we can at least flush toilets and what not. We put the kitchen sink on the front porch and leave a giant hole in the counter and head to bed.

Everything is better the next day right?

Happy Father's Day

I hope all of the fathers out there had a nice Father’s Day!

We got up Sunday and got ready, because we were taking my Dad (and Mom) to breakfast for Father’s Day. Before we went we stopped at Target and picked up my Dad a tool kit like Band Mom got me. After breakfast we headed home and I sat around and watched more World Cup action.

Thing 1 and Thing 2 gave me their Father’s Day present. I guess Thing 1 saw it at the store and decided I needed it. It was a two pack of wireless controllers for the PS2. At some point during the game Pooh’s Dad came to get her. So between games (World Cup games that is) I set up the wireless controllers and played some games with Thing 1 on the PS2. Then I took Things 1 & 2 for a walk to Krency’s for some ice cream. Daddy was jonesin’ for a banana split. Then some more world cup. Then a nap. Then some more PS2 with Thing 1.

Later, we all packed up and went to Panera Bread for a light dinner. Then a quick jaunt to WalMart for the weeks lunches and some new sandals for the little ones.

All in all a pretty nice Father’s Day (Weekend)!

Pre-Father's Day

Saturday was pretty laid back…I got back from the Nicolozake’s after 4:30, and went straight to bed. A little after 9 I woke up and couldn’t get back to sleep, even though Band Mom was nice and said I should head back to bed for a little bit. I spent the morning watching some World Cup. My folks came over around 1 or 2 and got Thing 1 & Thing 2 and took them to the pool for the day. Band Mom, Pooh, and I headed up to Band Mom’s Mom’s.

We had to drop off her car to get inspected. When we dropped it off, the guy thought Band Mom was goofy, because she told him the car (a 2000 Prism) only had 5000 miles on it. He had to come out and confirm that. Well didn’t he feel silly. Band Mom’s Mom doesn’t drive all that much. He immediatly asked if she wanted to sell it

While they were inspecting it, we headed over to the mall and grabbed some grub. After we ate Band Mom and Pooh wanted to do a little clothes shopping. Nobody found anything, except some sunglasses for Band Mom. We still had time to kill, so we headed accross the street to Half Price Books. They didn’t have anything good form me, but Pooh ended up with 3 new CDs.

We picked up the car, and took Band Mom’s Mom home. Band Mom, Pooh and I then headed home. Band Mom decided she would give me some of my Father’s Day presents early since I could kill some time with one of them for the evening. So I got some new tools (not the thing I could use to kill some time!) Now for those that know me, you know I am not the handiest around the house. In fact I am often refered to as the Anti-Bob Villa. I think there are some prophecies and books written about me. Granted they are not as famous as the whole Christ/Anti-Christ prophesies, but they are still out there if you look hard enough. The real problem was when I do actually need to tool for something, the exact one I need is always missing, so it was time for a new set in a handy little tool kit so I had anything I could possibly need. Band Mom actually found these cool sets on sale at Target and got me 2 (One called the Home kit and one called the Car kit)

Anyway, the other gift was Season 1 of Lost on DVD. Now this is a good way to kill some time. I immediatly popped it in and started watching. Sometime during the first disc Things 1 & 2 came home. After they went to bed I was still watching. I made it halfway through disc 2 before I finally was too tired to watch anymore and headed to bed.

Friday @ Nicolozake's

Friday night we played Nicolozake’s. The show started out a little slow, but picked up by the end of the night. The Band got to meet Keyz’s parents though. That was cool that they came out to check out the first set.

This was the first show with Kenn that we needed to do a 3 set night. We pulled it off. We added a bunch of songs at the last practice. Most came off well, a few still need work. One cool thing is I get to sing one of my favorite songs now, G’N’R’s It’s So Easy! What a fun little song. Also completely unplanned, we decided to try something new with Killing In The Name Of…Kenn and I both sang it basically trading lines and it came off pretty cool.

Well we proved to ourselves that we have enought material to play all night…Now its time to start adding new covers and originals to our master list. So be sure to check us out over the next few months, because every show will probably introduce something new…(at least new for us)

Thanks to all those that came out (all be it a little late) to Nicolozake’s. We always have fun there, and this time was no different.

Our next show is July 8 at Jay’s at Southpoint. This should be fun. Its the annual Tony & Rock (& sometimes Sal) birthday party. Its our first time at Jay’s so come out and show your support so it wont be our last time at Jay’s!

Grass, Swings, And Dinner

Sunday I got up late (sortof) and ran to McDonalds and breakfast for the fam. After we ate, I decided it was time to cut the grass. As I was doing this Band Mom and Pooh started taking down what was left of our swingset. Since they were in my way when I got their I helped them finish. Miss H, Mr. P and Pappy were out working on the new swing set and doing some lawn work as well. We got it all taken care of eventually.

Band Mom decided to go to her Mom’s with only Pooh, since her Mom wanted to shampoo carpets and do some cleaning. Then I got a call that we were all going to dinner. I quick jumped in the tub and then got the kids ready. Band Mom came and got us since I didn’t have car seats for the kids and we all headed to dinner.

Got home got the kids bathed and into bed. Then I worked on one of Pinnacle’s web sites.

That was about it for Sunday…pretty boring.
